Yes, Brooks County ISD is accredited by the Texas Education Agency. TEA is the only entity that accredits public schools in Texas at the district level for grades K-12.

No, BCISD is an open-enrollment public school district in Texas so we are tuition-free for all students. We even pay for college courses while enrolled in our district.

Brooks County ISD is well equipped to diagnose, adapt, and accommodate all students enrolled. We are open to all students providing transportation, special education, English language learning, migrant resources, and other public school services. 

A child is not required to attend school unless he or she is at least six years old on September 1 of the school year. Enrollment in kindergarten is not required. However, if a child is enrolled in Kindergarten, regular attendance is required. If the child has too many unexcused absences while enrolled, compulsory attendance charges may be filed. A parent who enrolls a child in Kindergarten may choose to withdraw the child at any time during the school year.

BCISD held accommodations during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, as we have returned to in-person classes, we do not plan to expand virtual/remote learning. However, our staff will work with students and families for any needs.

We do provide various options for transportation which include in-town, country (rural), special education, and emergency routes within our district boundaries. One of the forms during enrollment is for transportation and we will accommodate as seating and priority permits.
